Our recent event in Tiverton gave us the chance to look in a bit more detail at the recently published Local Suicide Prevention Planning Practice Resource. This extremely valuable document gives a wealth of advice, evidence, priorities and suggestions for action as Local Authorities develop their Suicide Prevention Action plans.
Section 2 of the Practice Resource emphasises the importance of whole community approaches:
"The combined knowledge, expertise and resources of organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors is essential"
We all have a role to play in supporting and contributing to local Public Health Suicide Prevention Strategies - and we know that together we can accomplish so much more than we could alone.
